Spring is in full swing at Byers Castle.
Everyone has been hard at work making sure the Castle grounds look great, including the bees! The beekeepers report that the honey bees are busy collecting pollen and making honey. Come late summer, there should be enough honey to begin harvesting.
Memorial day weekend saw the annual planting of the vegetable garden, a tradition that has been happening every year for over 50 years.
The garden will be home to tomatoes, corn, green beans, cucumbers, potatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, pumpkins, and many other tasty vegetables. We also grow asparagus and garlic in separate gardens, as well as having an orchard with apple, pear, and chestnut trees.
